CHELSEA BOOST TOP FOUR HOPES
Monday night football brought us two premier league games, the first of them being Chelsea vs Everton. Both teams are chasing a top four spot this season to get themselves into the Champions League in the 21/22 season.
Both teams started well with Chelsea looking the stronger of the two making Everton show their good defensive work, that is until the 31st minute when Kai Havertz takes a shot at goal that looked to be going wide until it ricocheted off Ben Godfrey for an own goal giving Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
Chelsea carried that 1-0 lead through till half time. The second half was eventful to say the least, Kai Hazertz scored a great goal however, the referee and VAR judged that the attacking midfielder handled the ball with his arm and disallowed the goal.
Jordan Pickford gave away a penalty by bringing down Kai Havertz in the 18 yard box and of course Jorginho steps up to take the penalty and scores with his usual a hop, skip and jump to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead in the 65 minute.
Josh King was brought on for Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 70 minute to give Everton more of a physical presence and Jordan Pickford made some incredible saves to keep Everton in the game and with all their hard work Everton only managed 3 attempts on goal with non of them being on target.
Since Thomas Tuchel took the ranks at Chelsea they haven’t been defeated in their last 11 games and the Tuchel appears to have made them extremely defensively solid which gave Everton an extremely hard task this evening.
Kai Havertz had his best game since signing for Chelsea and Jordan Pickford made some amazing saves to try and keep Everton in the game however, despite the Everton effort the game finished Chelsea 2-0 Everton and Chelsea go four points clear above Everton in the top four.
