Liverpool have had a difficult 2020/21 season so far following Van Dijk’s injury along with other defender casualties which left them short at the back. It is this highlighted lack of depth which saw the board bring in Ozan Kabak from Schalke on a loan deal. The fans have demanded that they have a busy summer with a view to have a title run in the 2021/22 campaign.

Brighton centre-back Ben White is one target Liverpool have been looking for. The club reportedly wants £40 million for the Englishman which put Liverpool off in January, however, the club may revisit this in the summer. Leeds United are also reportedly interested following his impressive loan spell at the club last year. Both Manchester clubs have reportedly also been sniffing around.

Another English centre-back that Liverpool have been looking at is Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Conor Coady. This season he’s been one of the best defenders in the Premier League and was rewarded with a few England caps in 2020.

Coady came through the youth academy of Liverpool back in 2005 and pundit Jamie Carragher asked him about a return to the club recently. Although Coady joked it off, don’t be surprised to see a return for Merseyside for the defender.

James Tarkowski has reportedly turned down numerous contract offers from Burnley and the club have decided to cash in on the defender. The 28-year-old attracted interest from Leicester City and West Ham last summer and there’s likely to be a race for his signature this year too.

Tyrone Mings joined Aston Villa from Bournemouth in 2019 and is another player who could interest Liverpool. His versatility allows him to play centre-back and left-back which would be vital in a squad as thin as Liverpool’s. There’s talk of interest from Manchester United and Arsenal who’ll push Liverpool to act quickly if they want to acquire the services of Mings.

Norwich City right-back Max Aarons has been linked with a move away from the club ever since their relegation from the Premier League. The highly-rated 21-year-old has been linked to clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich who’ll all be desperate to land the player and match Norwich City’s asking price of £35 million.

Moving on from the defence, Liverpool could decide to bolster their attack. Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund has been linked to a move back to England for a few years now and Liverpool would love to bring him back.

They’d love to add some firepower to their attack which already includes the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino but they’ll have to fight off interest from Manchester United and Sancho’s former club Manchester City.

Dele Alli has fallen out of favour at Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are ready to capitalise. The last out of favour English midfielder the club signed was Alex
