SERIE A TRANSFERS YOU SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR THIS SUMMER

Edin Dzeko

The Serie A title race has been heating up over the past few months with Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Atalanta all fighting to finish in top spot. Here I’ll be looking at some of the transfer rumours which have been swirling about in Italy.

Juventus have been the dominant force in Italy for a long time now and if they don’t win the league this season, it’ll be deemed a failure. They’re likely to recruit this summer regardless and could strengthen a number of key positions.

One position the club wants to strengthen is central midfielder as Corentin Tolisso, Julian Draxler, Houssem Aouar and Giovani Lo Celso top the shortlist. PSG’s Draxler could be a favourite as he’s out of contract in the summer. Aouar also plays in Ligue 1 and could be tempted by Juventus, however, a £50 million price tag could put off the Bianconeri.

Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso will be out of contract in the summer of 2022 and the club won’t want him to leave on a free transfer with a fee of £15 million reportedly agreed upon. Tottenham’s Lo Celso is also an interesting option, however, the club will want to keep hold of the Argentine and will command a high transfer fee.

AC Milan look set to complete the signing of Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori with a buyout clause of £25 million set to be triggered. The club want to follow this up with Lille winger Jonathan Ikone who’s impressed in Ligue 1 this season.

Ikone is likely to cost the club around £30 million which interests the AC Milan board. If they miss out on Ikone then Florian Thauvin and Otavio have also been linked to the club and could be signed as replacements.

From one Milan club to another, Inter Milan look set to make some transfer moves themselves this summer. The club are working hard to sign Lautaro Martinez to a new deal in order to fight off interest from FC Barcelona.

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has been linked to the club on a free transfer, however, will likely have to battle Barcelona and PSG for his signature. Rodrigo De Paul is another midfielder the club have been looking at with Udinese slapping a £40 million price tag on the Argentine’s head.

AS Roma want to bring in a goalkeeper this summer with Pau Lopez falling out of favour to 37 year old Antonio Mirante nearly 2 years after signing for £21 million. Udinese keeper Juan Musso and Cagliari man Alessio Cragno are both linked to the capital club for a fee of £20 million.

The club also want to sign a striker to replace the ageing Dzeko with Mauro Icardi of PSG and Olivier Giroud of Chelsea both being linked. Icardi would likely command a high transfer fee of around £50 million whereas Giroud would be a lot cheaper and a more likely option if Chelsea are to pursue Erling Haaland. Atalanta’s captain Papu Gomes has also been linked for a fee of £15 million which would be an impressive coup for the side.
